We specialise in the best of local real ales at The George. We usually have a couple of guest ales available to sample and you’ll almost certainly love our regular ales too. These include beers from the Great Oakley Brewery, which is no distance up the road, and from the Vale Brewery in Brill.

Vale Pale Ale, 4.2% abv, Vale Brewery Company, Brill.

Hops from across the Atlantic together with Kent's finest deliver an assertive, dry hoppy ale with a pronounced malt background. Gold Medal winner at the 2007 Reading Beer Festival.

Very pale, slightly sweet with pleasant fruity aftertaste.

Timothy Taylor Landlord, 4.3% abv, Timothy Taylor & Co Ltd, Keighley, West Yorks.

The drinkers’ favourite, a 4.3% classic pale ale with a complex citrus and hoppy aroma. And it has won more awards than any other beer, winning both CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Britain and the Brewing Industry Challenge Cup four times.

Guest Ales

  • Mary's Ruby Mild 4.5% abv - Pours a clear deep dark red colour with a thick foamy tan head. A rich chocolatey and ripe dark fruit aroma. A rich malty taste, moderately sweet with some dark fruit flavours and a light spicy bite in the finish. Nice. Brewed as an occasional beer by Nethergate  Brewery, Suffolk.
  •  Five Rifles 4.1% - Ruby bitter, sweet fruity flavours, hoppy bitterness finish. Brewed by Nethergate Brewery  using Crystal Rye to create a red colour, finished with WGV hops.

  • Victoria Pale Ale 3.8% abv - Originally brewed by the Museum brewery to meet demand for a fuller bodied yet lower alcohol light ale. Victoria Ale was brewed in honour of Queen Victoria. Light but unexpectedly full-flavoured with a rich golden colour and pleasant mellow finish. Brewed by The Heritage Brewing Company, Burton upon Trent.
  • Barrel of Laughs 4.1% abv - A best bitter, copper coloured with a blend of the best malts and finest hops, giving vanilla undertones and a lovely aftertaste. Brewed by Elliswood Brewery, Hinckley.
